You always want to keep your equip load below %70, if you go above that your character will: use stamina quicker, regenerate stamina slower, and roll slower making dodging more difficult. Weight management In this game the weight of an item only affects your character if you have that item equipped. This leaves you vulnerable to critical hits. NOTE: If you run out of stamina while blocking with a shield, your enemy will guard break you.
Swing your weapon with care and save stamina for rolls or blocking with a shield, because your enemies will always counter attack you. Stamina management people in this game often get greedy and are punished severely for it. These videos explain them in a way that’s very easy to digest, much better than I ever could. There’s plenty of videos on YouTube that go really in depth with game mechanics such as i-frames, parry frames, backstab fishing, hyperarmor, and build optimizations. The game is perfectly enjoyable without knowing why things are the way they are. I suppose lore and backstory can be redundant information to someone still learning how the game is played, so it’s best to avoid that until it draws your interest. It really depends on what you’re looking for, information wise. Now, I realize that the Steam Community is composed of fanatic gamerz who have better things to do than help out noobs - so please accept my heartfelt gratitude in advance! So - my question: Can the Community help me find the best sources of comprehensive information about this game? Perhaps a wiki that has provided you with a compendium of vital information and that was easy to navigate and understand? A set of YouTube videos that laid it all out for you in an organized manner? I'm sure that there are volumes of redundant information out there, and I'd like to avoid wading through it insofar as possible.
but there are so many sources that I'm confused and overwhelmed. I've done a bit of poking around on Steam Community, YouTube, etc. Hidden gameplay mechanics, myriad options for the main character's weapons and armor, a rich back story that is very difficult to suss out from simply playing the game, etc. Well, it seems that there are depths to this game - and to the entire series - that are not at all obvious to someone like me.
He warned me about its legendary difficulty, but I'm retired and have loads of time to practice and to "git gud" (do I have that right?). An online correspondent recommended DS3, not only because it had the advanced graphics that I was looking for, but because it was the latest in a series of games that is one of the most played and most greatly enjoyed in all of gamedom. I have a very powerful PC gaming rig and I wanted games that would show off the capabilities of the RTX 2080 graphic adapters. I'm a total newbie, not only to the Souls games, but to gaming in general.
